Greenpeace activists scale the Arc de Triomphe to push for ban on GMOs

On the eve of the final phase of the Grenelle on the environment, Greenpeace activists scored a spectacular publicity coup by hoisting anti-GMO banners atop the Arc de Triomphe in the heart of Paris this morning. Eight activists climbed the monument to put up banners calling on President Nicolas Sarkozy to declare a complete ban on all GM crops. “GMOs: Together, a moratorium is possible” refers to Sarkozy’s presidential campaign slogan: “Together, everything is possible.” Yannick Jadot, director of Greenpeace campaigns, told France 2 television that “if we don’t emerge from this Grenelle with a ban on GMOs…the Grenelle will have been a total failure.”
